Short-term Programs

We conduct about 40 short-term overseas training programs annually of around 1 week to 3 months, with overseas educational institutions under an academic exchange agreement or a specific agreement on conducting such programs. In addition to programs in which students can participate at a comparatively low cost, the students can receive various scholarships opportunities, granting of course credits, orientation before departure and upon their return, and support with the procedures required to take part in the study abroad program. Given these affluent supports, even students going overseas for the first time can take part in programs without any worry.

Diverse Programs

We offer the following 6 types of short-term overseas training programs, so that each student can select the optimal program at an appropriate time to match their purpose and interests in studying abroad, the learning stages of their foreign language and specialized field, and their future plans. Competencies of a Global IMAGINEER

Based on these indicators, we offer diverse programs to support the nurture of each student to efficiently and effectively aim to be a Global IMAGINEER by incorporating the student’s consideration of study abroad as part of their course planning at the University of Fukui. For example, students can participate in Language Learning programs in the 1st and 2nd year undergraduate, Academic Expertise programs in the 3rd and 4th year, and the Research & Publications programs in the 1st and 2nd year of the master’s to enhance each skill in stages.

Participation in short-term overseas training programs is subject to beneficial systems and supports for students as follows:

Scholarships	The short-term overseas training program is subject to the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Short-term Study Abroad), and the University of Fukui Support Grant for Overseas Training, and those who meet the requirements may receive one of those scholarships. Refer here for details of various scholarships.
Granting of Course Credits	When participating in the whole program schedule including pre- and post-training, the students are to be granted credits of prescribed undergraduate or graduate courses based on their performance evaluation. We will register students to appropriate courses once we receive applications for participating in the programs, so students are not required to carry out a separate course registration procedure. Support System	Students can receive various support from the International Affairs Division staff on campus, such as consultation regards the short-term overseas training program that suits the most to each student and further study abroad after that, provision of information and support regards the various arrangements and procedures required to participate in the program, orientation before departure and upon return, and crisis management and advice from departure to return.
