Welcome to UF! 84 new international students started new life in Fukui

We welcomed 84 new international students from 17 countries/regions, and they start their study from this October.

Opening ceremony of the Orientation was held on September 25th at the Academy Hall. Dr. Mitsufumi Mayumi, President of the University of Fukui, welcomed and cheered new students with his speech.

“I hope you will take the advantage of this excellent learning environment, and I ask you to set personal and academic goals and to try your best to achieve them. Although Fukui is not a big city, it is surrounded by nature with beautiful mountains and the sea. I hope you will enjoy it as well.”

Mr. Hance Marcus Ryan, an exchange student from Clemson University, USA, gave a speech on behalf of all the new international students and shared his goals.

“I would like to study hard and make a big improvement on my Japanese ability by the end of my exchange program. Let’s make our studying life (this year) at the University of Fukui wonderful together!”

At the end of the ceremony, international student supporters and tutors, who are going to advise and help international students during their program, also introduced themselves and told them how excited they are to interact with them from now on.

Here at the University of Fukui, they will have great support from all the professors and staffs from Language Center, International Center and International Affairs Division, and the current students to enjoy their campus life.
